Mark Helias rare solo performance in Grand Rapids

Mark Helias, the renowned jazz double bassist from New Brunswick, New Jersey will be making a stop in Grand Rapids MI on Nov 7th at Mexicains Sans Frontieres. Known for his work with many jazz greats (Ray Anderson, Gerry Hemingway, Anthony Braxton, Julius Hemphill, Cuong Vu, and Mose Alison), Helias also shares his passion for music through his teaching at Sarah Lawrence College,The New School, and SIM(School for Improvised Music).

Having played in Chicago’s popular Umbrella Fest on Saturday, Helias is scheduled to play 2 sets at Mexicains Sans Frontieres on Sunday starting at 8pm. Blue Lake Radiowill be recording the show for later broadcast. In addition to the Grand Rapids appearance, Helias will be appearing at Kerrytown Concert House in Ann Arbor MI on Nov 8th.

This event will be a rare opportunity to see Helias perform live in a solo performance setting.
